A Confession....

Ok, I admit I'm a reality TV junkie....but one of my fav shows is the Real Housewives series.
First it was Orange County, then New York, now they are housewives of Atlanta. I watch in amazement at what people will put out there and then they are shocked when people then critize them. I know, it's not rocket science, but it will make you laugh for sure! Then to top the fact that I watch the shows, I will check the blogs just to see if most of the watching audience agrees with me, and laugh some now. I know, I can hear you now....shame on me.....brainspam.....should be reading some great book.........I would but Top design just came on and I love tha one too.
I'm rooting for Eddie to win.....he's the Sr. Stylist for Martha Stewart Living magazine.....need I say more? Speaking of Martha...we're on a first name basis.....I love her too. I can be in the worst mood and turn her show on and VOILA! instant calm.....my mom will fall asleep if she's on.......anyhooo.
I was at the grocery store today...Wally world and don't even get me started on what I think THEY have done to all the mom&pop shops out there....I ususally don't shop there but was in a pinch so...remember the eggs issue........18 eggs from a commercial farmer..$2.82 and the cage free kind (which there was only one selection) was $4.32. Wow, that's a difference. Which came home with me? The cheaper ones. I know. I let the fat brown chickens down and the skinny white chickens still have a job. sigh...I tried...but the extra $ would buy me a Sonic drink. I know. Sellout.
Subject change. My 20 yr reunion. ( you all realize this will be like the girl getting married who talks about the wedding til u get to the point of for Pete's sake..get married already!)
241 days and counting....yes we are counting. I said to Brady today, well I just need a tummy tuck, boob job and botox before next June......no comment from him....then I say OOORRRRRR I buy Spanx, a wonderworking bra and fire up the Arbonne routine! Brady says, so you're opting for plan B. LOL HOW can you not love pure truth?
What else.....did I mention lots of my ole peeps have college degrees out the wahzu? Double majors, masters degrees.....college of this and that....hmmmmmmmmm......makes my community college parties, er, I mean days seem less than. Never fear! I take pride in the 3 c-sections I endured and count that has the hardest work around! In fact, that's where I got my fav saying...."I'm not afraid of anything...I've had 3 kids!"
And with that, dear friends, I bid you a goodnight!

Peace, love and empty laundry baskets to you all.......

Something to think about.....

Ok, I know we ALL have lives and really mine doesn't revolve around what Oprah has to say, but I saw her show yesterday about the US food chain and I was glued to the TV.
Being a bonafied city girl, farming issues have never kept me up at night. The issue at hand and a vote in November in California is called Prop 2, which states calf for veal production, pigs and egg laying hens should have the space to stand up, spread their wings and have a bit of space to move aound in. Both sides of this issue were well represented. One side against Prop 2 is a 7 generation farming family who would essentially be wiped out if it passes. The other side is for cage free animals..I'm sure you've seen cage free eggs in the grocery store. I of course went back and forth with yes, we need to be humane to our animals, then back to we can not wipe out our american farmers. My gosh our country is built on the backs of farming families! I really don't want all of our food coming in as imports from Mexico, but when the guy who wrote the NY Times article about being raised on a goose farm and how he'd have to go inthe barn to get a goose for slaughter and how geese mate for life, that when he grabbed one goose, its mate would come out of the crowd and try to fight him for the mate.......made me cry. Yeah, I know ya'll are saying...wow...you actually cry?? Made me think of my Gary being hauled off and me having to say, UH EXCUSE ME!!! So if you have time, check out the story....I know it will be on my mind the next time I'm at the store picking my food!

Miss Taylor

Today is Miss Taylor's 13th birthday! Ahh, it seems it was just yesterday I was picking up after her, running around chasing her to brush her teeth.....wait, that WAS yesterday! We had her party on Friday night with 7 of her girlfriends. Usually we spend weeks coming up with the perfect party plan--well Taylor does, I just shoot down the limo requests and roll my eyes at the thought of renting a hotel suite--until this year, I said, Listen try something simple! So, who knew she would actually give it a whirl? We went to the Westmoore football game, it was Homecoming, (we lost) and then came back to our house where the girls started dressing up in the craziest outifts they could put together(pics to come) and did each others hair and makeup. When they were all ready I drove them up to Rustys custard place where they walked in like they owned the place and acted goofy. Then decided to go across to McDonalds, however I said, uh girls, all the high school kids are there now after the game-thinking they'd be like oh, yeah, maybe not--oh soo not soo........."SO?! Let's go!" OK! SO, of course they giggled their way through everybody, with lil Maddie in tow--they dressed her up and was callin her "Shawtie"--shortie in okie speak--as I watched them go across the parkin lot I thought, how fearless! I laughed and thought well, I always worried the girls of today don't have enough self confidence but clearly they do. We all went back to our house and they stayed up til about 3am and formed the "Kappa Kappa Taylors" Or "Kappa QTs" sororiety complete with pins and secret handshake. I cooked a huge breakfast the next day and they did cheer stunts in the backyard.
After all was said and done, Taylor was laying in the floor and said, "man, that was the best party I ever had!!"
Who knew using your imagination was all you needed...........Thanks Barney!!

Just Thinkin....

Ever realize you're just not who you used to be anymore? 'Maturing' I guess. Some seek it, others chase it, many avoid it, and maybe it justs sneaks up on some of us.
One of those moments that you look around and realize uh, that's just not me anymore, not that whatever it is, is neccessarily bad, just not me anymore. Ya know when you are a kid and you think nacho cheese doritos and green onion dip chased with a Sunkist pop is a good idea. However now at whatever age you are now, the very thought of such brings no happy thoughts.
All this reunion stuff kinda holds a mirror up of old ways, old paths, old thoughts, old behaviors.....in some ways remembering who you were and where you came from is a great tool to see maybe how far you are from that or maybe how close you still are to it as well. It could also be said I analyze way too much. Maybe tonight I'm just in awe of Christ's ability to see what can be out of what couldn't be seen by anybody else. Seeing how people have gone about their lives is fascinating to me, some major changes, some no changes at all. I really should have stayed in college to be the psycho therapist I thought I'd be.....but then again, I wouldn't have my life now. I think maybe a new appreciation for my life today no matter how I love to moan about the laundry and housecleaning is setting upon me. Then again, maybe its the carbs......I had mexican today for lunch for Taylor's bday-13 tomorrow Monday!!!
Love to all....and empty laundry baskets!!
